Line-haul Solutions in Afghanistan for Multiple Projects

Caucas’s customer, a major US government contractor, had 2 projects running simultaneously in Afghanistan. The customer had an under-utilized fleet of owned assets and required operational improvements to meet their program objectives for a line-haul contract. The customer also required distribution services for a 2nd contract. The Caucas team analyzed the customer requirements and provided a logistics solution which would optimize fleet capacities and provide reliable distribution services for both contracts. The Caucas plan included the lease of the contractor’s assets to a subcontractor which would perform line-haul services for both contracts. The Caucas team provided project management support for the subcontractor to meet expectations of the client. Through Caucas’s logistics solutions the contractor was able to increase their performance levels on both contracts and provide optimization of their fleet. The subcontractor was also able to increase their own revenue and improve their own performance through the project management solutions introduced by Caucas.

Project Management for Distribution Solutions

Caucaus’s customer, a local Afghan company, was awarded a line-haul contract in Afghanistan for the distribution of food for a major US government contactor. The project included line-haul and distribution from the client’s warehouse to forward operating base locations throughout Afghanistan utilizing various levels of security. The customer’s client required adherence to strict Standard Operating Procedures and Key performance indicators as part of the requirements of the contract. The Caucas team was brought on-site to Afghanistan to implement a project management solution for our customer to meet project requirements and optimize efficiency of the operations. As the billing structure for the project was extremely complicated, the Caucas team also provided accounting and billing for the client to ensure each mission was billed correctly. The Caucas team implemented standard operating procedures in accordance with international standards and interfaced with the client for operational and administrative issues.

Concept Planning for Supply Chain via Airlift to Djibouti

Caucas’s customer required a solution for Airlift of food stuff supply chain from Dubai to Djibouti. The cargo included perishable and semi perishable cargo with requirements for maintaining cold chain. The Caucas team analyzed the supply chain quantities and frequency of required shipment to provide recommendation on aircraft type and optimization of aircraft, route planning, load planning and project budget requirements for this high profile program.

Procurement and Logistics for Local Market Foodstuff from the CIS Region

The customer’s project required the procurement and transportation for food items procured from the CIS region. Specific packaging and delivery requirements were required to meet project requirements. Through Caucas’s network of worldwide resources, the Caucas procurement team sourced and negotiated competitively priced products in quantities which were required to meet the project supply chain requirements. The Caucus procurement team negotiated with the manufacturers and suppliers to provide the required packaging requirements which were outside the manufacturer’s scope. Caucus’s logistics team additionally provided a cost effective transportation solution for distribution from the manufacturer to final destination at the customer’s warehouse in Afghanistan. Caucus’s ability to provide procurement and distribution of items from the CIS countries at competitive costs provided the customer with supply chain solutions from the local market and reduced their dependence on the supply chain from resources requiring additional transportation.

Air Lift by Charter for Fully Armored Vehicles

Our customer required the shipment of 47 fully armored 4x4 SUVs from Dubai to Afghanistan. Caucaus team of professional logisticians provided a best value analysis and concept planning for the shipment via multi-modal transport via ocean and land and via airlift to meet timeline and budget requirements from the manufacturer in Dubai to final destination near Bagram, Afghanistan. The transportation solution chosen by the customer and fully executed by the Caucus team included door to door transport via air charter. Caucas arranged for pick-up from the manufacturer, load planning of the aircraft, and airlift from Ras Al Kamiah airport in the UAE. The use of the alternative UAE airport of Ras Al Kamiah provided the customer with a cost saving solution while providing a quality transport solution.

Vehicle Leasing and Fleet Management for line-haul fleet

Caucas’ client required vehicle leasing and fleet management of a variety of trucks to meet requirements of two separate USG projects. Vehicles were required to meet strict requirements to adhere to USG quality specifications of the contract.  The contract required the coursing of a fleet of flatbeds, lowboys and refrigerated vehicles and the provision of fleet management services for the customers lease and owned vehicles.  Services included maintenance, vehicle telematics, fuel management, accident and insurance claims and management of missions utilized by the leased fleet.  Caucas developed a lease and maintenance tracking tool to track vehicle details, use of vehicles on mission, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and invoicing.  We carried out an analysis of customer work flow and operating practices to develop fleet optimization and developed processes and procedures for quality control, maintenance and invoicing.  Caucas personnel were placed on-ground at the prime customer base to facilitate fleet management and assist our client to provide maximum service to support their contract.

Vehicle Leasing & Fleet Management–Commercial Vehicles & Heavy Equipment in GCC

The Caucas team provided fleet management, vehicles, equipment and maintenance services to manage the IDIQ leasing project over a period of two years for a commercial customer in the GCC. The leased vehicles consisted of SUV’s, pickups, vans, sedans, 6 wheel cargo trucks, 60ton boom loaders, forklifts, and heavy equipment vehicles.  Vehicles were sourced through local Bahrain leasing companies and maintenance services provided by authorized service centers.  The Caucas team provided vehicles to the customer specification.  The customer required the Caucas team to meet strict timelines for delivery and maintenance services in order to mitigate vehicle and equipment downtime to meet their own project deadlines.  Through the execution of the program, Caucas demonstrates our ability to provide services to meet delivery timeline and customer specification.  Furthermore we demonstrate our ability to provide customer service to ensure our customer fulfils their program objectives.

Concept Planning

Caucas provided concept planning and bid development services to a major US government prime contractor.  The Caucas concept of operations and planning were included as part of the contractors bid submission which resulted in an awarded proposal of more than $8bn.  The Caucas team provided:
